MSCI plans to include stocks listed on China's new STAR market

The MSCI Global Investable Market Indexes will include stocks listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange's Sci-Tech Innovation Board, dubbed the STAR market, if eligibility requirements are met.

MSCI said that the plan is for the STAR market securities to be included in the MSCI China Indexes and their derived indexes, starting in November. Chinese stocks will also be eligible for inclusion in the MSCI China All Shares and the MSCI China A Onshore Indexes, and their derived indexes.

The STAR market is China's first platform where pre-profit, high-tech startups and companies with dual-class shareholding structures could conduct initial public offerings and trade publicly.
