Assurant Inc. has named Carey Roberts executive vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary, effective Oct. 30.

Roberts succeeds Bart Schwartz, who earlier announced his intention to retire at year-end 2017. Roberts joins from Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc., where she has served as deputy general counsel and corporate secretary since October 2014, adding the role of chief compliance officer in September 2015.
