Dutch tycoon John de Mol is leaving U.K.-based media company ITV PLC in line with a restructuring at ITV Studios Ltd., which will bring the cessation of the Talpa Media BV brand, Deadline reported Oct. 1.
De Mol, who founded the now ITV-owned Talpa Media, opted not to exercise his option to extend the earn-out period at ITV for another three years. He will continue to offer management services to Talpa Media until the end of April 2020.
Beginning January 2020, ITV Studios' international businesses will be divided under the Creative Network, Global Entertainment and Global Distribution segments. Talpa Media will form part of the Global Entertainment division, to be led by Maarten Meijs from the Netherlands.
Talpa Media units Talpa Netherlands, MAS Media and Vorst Media will now come under ITV Studios Netherlands. Talpa Middle East and Talpa Germany GmbH & Co. KG will also be integrated into ITV Studios.
ITV acquired Talpa Media in 2015.
