Morgan Stanley dismisses senior adviser for inappropriate conduct

Morgan Stanley has dismissed former congressman Harold Ford Jr. as a senior adviser after investigating an allegation of inappropriate conduct, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing one person familiar with the matter.

The company confirmed to S&P Global Market Intelligence that he was "terminated for conduct inconsistent with our values and in violation of our policies."

Ford had made "inappropriate forcible advances" toward a woman at a meeting at the company several years ago, the report said. The woman, who did not work at Morgan Stanley, had met Ford in his professional capacity and recently reported the incident to bank officials, the person said.

Ford joined Morgan Stanley in 2011 as a senior adviser.
