Grab teams with Lippo Group on Indonesian mobile payments

TheSoutheast Asian ride-hailing service Grab is partnering with conglomerate to develop and introduce auniversal payment platform to customers in Indonesia, Reuters reported July 22.

Under the partnership, the Grab app will eventually be usedto make payments across Lippo's retailers, including its department stores,cinemas and e-commerce site. The deal will give Grab access to 50 millioncustomers in Indonesia.

Grab was originally launched as a taxi-hailing app in 2012and expanded to include private cars and motorbikes. It has operations inIndonesia, Singapore, thePhilippines, Malaysia,Thailand and Vietnam.
