Aflac files for yen-denominated notes offering

Aflac Inc. filed a preliminary prospectus for an offering of an undisclosed amount of Japanese yen-denominated subordinated debentures due 2047.

The company plans to use the net proceeds to fund all or a portion of the redemption price of its 5.50% subordinated debentures due 2052, of which $500 million principal amount are outstanding. The remaining net proceeds may be used for general corporate purposes.

The offering's joint book-running managers are Mizuho International plc, Morgan Stanley & Co. International plc and SMBC Nikko Securities America Inc.
