Iowa Insurance Division announces $8M assessment for Second Injury Fund

The Iowa Insurance Division announced that an assessmentwill be imposed on insurers and self-insured employers to beef up the state's SecondInjury Fund.

The assessment, which totals $8 million, comes as sufficientfunds are not available to meet the liabilities of the fund, which compensatesworkers who had a previous injury and incur a second work-related injury.

The assessment is due Oct. 17.
