Nuclear update: Return of Callaway, Davis-Besse supports total output

Total U.S. nuclear plant availability took anotherstep forward early May 11 to 85.23%, rising from 84.41% on May 10 but stilllower than the 85.80% level reported on the same day a year ago.

Pushing total U.S. output higher was an increase atFirstEnergy Corp.'sDavis-Besse inOhio. The unit was operating at 60% early May 11, climbing from 35% on May 10.In addition, Ameren Corp.'sCallaway nuclearplant in Missouri was at 45% early May 11, up from 9% on May 10.

As of early May 11, a total of 10 reactors across thecountry remain idled.
