Symantec provides outlook for fiscal Q2'18, FY'18

Symantec Corp. provided guidance for the second quarter and the full year of the company's fiscal year 2018.

For the fiscal second quarter, the company anticipates GAAP EPS to be a loss of 15 cents to 11 cents. Revenue for the quarter is expected to be between $1.22 billion and $1.26 billion. Non-GAAP EPS is expected to be between 40 cents and 44 cents.

The S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate for the fiscal second quarter is 43 cents.

For the full fiscal year, Symantec expects GAAP EPS to be between 1 cent and 11 cents. GAAP revenue for the year is expected to be between $5.04 billion and $5.14 billion. The company also expects non-GAAP EPS to be $1.79 to $1.89.

The S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate for the fiscal year is $1.79.

Symantec reported a net loss of $133 million, or 22 cents per share, for the fiscal first quarter, which was down from net income of $135 million, or 22 cents per share, a year earlier.

Non-GAAP net income for the quarter was $221 million, or 33 cents per share, up from $177 million, or 29 cents per share, in the prior-year period.

The S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate for the quarter was 31 cents.
