Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC teamed up with commodity chemicals firm Dow Inc. and packaging solutions provider Drukpol.Flexo to develop a polyethylene film-based packaging that can be recycled and disposed into existing recycling streams.
According to a Sept. 20 release, the new resealable, stand-up pouch was designed for Reckitt's Finish perfume-free dishwasher detergent range.
The maker of Veet hair removal products and Lysol cleaning items said the pouch can be produced using existing equipment and allows additional functionalities such as zippers and easy opening.
"Our new packaging is supported by existing recycling waste management systems and because the packing is lighter in weight, we are also able to reduce transportation costs and emissions," Reckitt Benckiser's head of packaging innovation Krzysztof Krajewski said in a statement.
