Hyundai Motor Co. will recall 6,620 cars imported in China over faulty engine software that could cause the engines to stall, Xinhua News Agency reported May 18, citing China's State Administration for Market Regulation.
Starting June 17, the South Korean carmaker will recall Veloster models manufactured between April 5, 2012, and Aug. 28, 2014, according to the report.
The news outlet said some of the vehicles subject to the recall have engines that burn ahead of normal ignition due to the defective software, potentially causing the engines to halt.
Hyundai will upgrade the engine management software of the affected cars free of charge, the report added.
