Spanish-language media company Hemisphere Media Group Inc. and private equity firm Platinum Equity LLC are among those interested in buying Univision Communications Inc., The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

Hemisphere Media and Platinum Equity both made deal overtures to Univision, sources said, adding that at least one other party also expressed interest in Univision.

Univision owners, including billionaire Haim Saban's Saban Capital Group LLC and private equity firms Madison Dearborn Partners LLC, Providence Equity Partners Inc., TPG and Thomas H. Lee Partners have reportedly been looking to exit their investment in the company.

Earlier this year, Univision confirmed that its board was reviewing strategic options for the company. The sale process has not reached its final stages and a deal may not materialize, sources said.
