Telstra expands Asia-Pacific network services

Australia'sTelstra Corp. Ltd.has announced a series of investments and new network services for Asia-Pacificto help meet the soaring demands for data among consumers and businesses.

The new network solutions include interconnecting Telstra'snetworks between Asia and the Middle East with the Bay of Bengal Gatewaycable system, opening a route connecting Asia and the Americas via the FASTERcable system and enhancing the operating life of the EAC-C2C system until 2035.In addition, the telco operator will introduce the shortest and lowest latencypath between Taipei and Hong Kong.Telstra will also establish a highly resilient fiber ring network in to improve network resiliency.

Telstra owns and operates the largest intra-Asia subseanetwork. The network enhancements mentioned will strengthen the telco'scapacity to support the demand for international connectivity, according to aMay 9 news release.
