Ansys profit misses consensus by 19.8% in Q2

Ansys, Inc. said its normalized net income for the second quarter was 73 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 91 cents per share.

EPS rose 9.8% year over year from 67 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $63.7 million, an increase of 6.8% from $59.7 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 24.1% from 24.3% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 7.3% year over year to $263.9 million from $246.1 million, and total operating expenses climbed 7.6% on an annual basis to $163.4 million from $151.9 million.

Reported net income came to $69.5 million, or 80 cents per share, compared with $69.7 million, or 78 cents per share, in the year-earlier period.
