Nestlé SA said Jan. 17 that it will launch vegan sausages in Europe and the U.S. in 2020.
The Swiss food-maker will offer the soy-based sausage under its Garden Gourmet brand in Europe, beginning in March. The product will be rolled out across 11 European countries, including Austria, Germany and the Netherlands. The company also plans to launch a version of the sausage for restaurants and foodservice to make it available to out-of-home customers.
For the U.S. market, Nestlé will launch a pea protein-based sausage under its Sweet Earth brand in April, along with a version for food service. Nestlé also will unveil a range of plant-based deli meats in the country, both in prepackaged cases and from the deli counter.
