PG&E selects ForeFront Power to develop community solar project

Pacific Gas and Electric Co. has selected renewable developer Forefront Power LLC for a 1.66-MW community solar project in Fresno County, Calif., under the utility's Regional Renewable Choice program.

The program allows customers a way to participate in solar who might not otherwise be able to due to space constraints, lack of sun exposure or ownership limitations.

Under the program, residential and commercial customers interested in the program will sign a contract directly with ForeFront Power to subscribe to a portion of the energy produced by the solar project, and will receive a credit from the PG&E Corp. subsidiary on their monthly energy statement, based on the kWh output of their subscription with the developer.

Customers can subscribe to between 25% and 100% of their energy use under this program. The community solar project is scheduled to begin delivering power to customers in mid-2019, according to a news release.
