American Water subsidiary buys water, wastewater systems in Illinois

Illinois American Water Co. on Sept. 19 completed its $1.9 million acquisition of the water and wastewater systems of the village of Glasford, Ill., a day after the state Commerce Commission approved the transaction.

The deal adds approximately 492 water customers and 482 wastewater customers to the Central Illinois service area, according to a news release.

The American Water Works Co. Inc. subsidiary has committed to upgrading the water and wastewater systems, including construction of a transmission water main from Timber-Logan Rural Water District to the village of Glasford.
