Eni affiliate makes gas, condensate find in Nigeria

Eni SpA affiliate Nigerian Agip Operating Co. made a significant gas and condensate discovery in the Obiafu-Obrikom fields located onshore the Niger Delta, according to an Aug. 27 news release from the Italian firm.

The discovery amounts to around 1 Tcf of gas and 60 million barrels of associated condensate in the deep drilled sequences. Further potential will be assessed in the next appraisal campaign.

The well could deliver in excess of 100 million standard cubic feet per day of gas and 3,000 barrels per day of associated condensates. It will also be put onstream to boost NAOC's gas production.

The find is part of a drilling campaign by the NAOC joint venture that aims to explore near-field and deep pool opportunities.

Eni serves as project operator with a 20% stake, while the Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. holds a 60% interest. Oando PLC also owns a 20% stake.
