Duke to install 530 electric vehicle charging stations in Florida

Duke Energy Florida LLC plans to install about 530 electric vehicle charging stations under its Park and Plug pilot program.

The Duke Energy Corp. subsidiary selected NovaCHARGE LLC to supply equipment and install charging stations in multi-unit dwellings, workplaces and locations with broad public access. Host sites will be selected through an application process, according to an Oct. 3 release.

Duke said it will install 10% of charging stations in income-qualified communities to make clean electric transportation available for all customers.

"We are bringing cleaner energy to Florida through 700 megawatts of new universal solar, and we are helping our customers to bring clean transportation to the state as well," Duke Energy Florida President Catherine Stempien said.
