AppleInc. is in talks with Japaneseelectronics giant SharpCorp. to buy organic LED displays for Apple's future devices,Bloomberg news reported Sept. 29, citing a source familiar with the subject.
The iPhone maker wants to increase the number of suppliersfor OLED screens, and a deal reportedly will depend on Sharp's output capacity.The Japanese company reportedly has revealed its plans to invest about $566million to develop OLED production facilities, with output to start by June2018. Sharp is using the funding to equip factories in Mie and Osaka, as wellas to provide samples to customers.
