Texas banking regulator OKs Veritex Community Bank's merger with Liberty Bank

The Texas Department of Banking on Oct. 6 approved Dallas-based Veritex Community Bank's proposed merger with Hurst, Texas-based Liberty Bank, according to the state regulator's website.

Veritex Holdings Inc. announced in August that it is buying Liberty Bancshares Inc. The deal is set to close in the fourth quarter of 2017 or in the first quarter of 2018.
