Heavy rare earths producer Northern Minerals Ltd. said Oct. 8 that it produced the first rare earth carbonate through its Browns Range pilot plant project in Western Australia, following the start of plant commissioning in June.

This marks as the first production of rare earth carbonate from xenotime ore outside China.

Both the beneficiation and hydrometallurgical circuits have been load commissioned, and commissioning will progress toward steady continuous operation of the circuits.
