British BroadcastingCorp. renewed and expanded its contract with Intelsat SA to distribute standard definition and HD contentacross several continents.
Under the multiyear agreement, BBC World News will use four ofIntelsat's premier video neighborhoods and the IntelsatOne terrestrial network todistribute content in the Americas and Asia, according to an April 14 news release.
The IntelsatOneterrestrial network features more than 36,000 miles of leased fiber and eight teleportsaround the globe. It will provide uplink services for the distribution network,along with providing dual and geographically diverse fiber routing from the BBCWorld News playout facilities.
