Life Insurance Corp. of India gets new chairman

The Indian government appointed V.K. Sharma as chairman of Life Insurance Corp. of India for a five-year term, the Press Trust of India reported Dec. 14, citing an official statement.

Sharma has been serving as LIC's managing director since November 2013. He was appointed as acting chairman of the state-owned insurer in September following S.K. Roy's resignation in June.
