second-quarter earnings fromoperations of $3.20 billion, up from $2.90 billion in the prior-year quarter.
Net earningsattributable to UnitedHealth Group common shareholders for the quarter were $1.75billion, or $1.81 per share, an increase from $1.59 billion, or $1.64 per share,in the year-ago quarter.
Adjustednet earnings for the second quarter were $1.89 billion, or $1.96 per share, up from$1.67 billion, or $1.73 per share, in the prior-year period.
The S&PCapital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate for the quarter was $1.89.
UnitedHealth said it narrowed its outlook for 2016 GAAP net earningsto between $7.25 per share and $7.40 per share and adjusted net earnings to a rangeof $7.80 per share to $7.95 per share. The company previously expected adjusted EPS of between$7.75 and $7.95 for 2016.
