MPLX LP is holding a binding open season for transportation service commitments on a planned oil pipeline expansion from Wood River, Ill., to Patoka, Ill., that would expand pipeline capacity to 345,000 barrels per day.
The pipeline, which currently has a capacity of 215,000 bbl/d, will be expanded by boosting horsepower and adding drag-reducing agents. The project aims to provide takeaway capacity to Midwest markets for Mid-Continent crude and is scheduled for in-service in the second quarter of 2018, according to an Aug. 1 news release.
The open season is expected to close Aug. 31.
