Boa Vista SCPC: Consumer delinquencies in Brazil up monthly in September, YTD levels

Consumer delinquencies in Brazil increased 4.7% in September from the prior month and 0.5%in the year-to-date period compared to a year earlier, according to data releasedby credit research firm Boa Vista SCPC.

While comparing the September default rate alone with September2015, however, the index dropped 3.4%.

The firm attributed the default hike in the monthly and year-to-datecomparisons to consumer caution over the Brazilian economy and overall pressureson family budgets from high inflation levels, rising unemployment and reduced incomes.

Boa Vista noted the default flow that remained stable throughout2016 should be maintained until mid-2017.
