Oil India announces 2 discoveries in Upper Assam basin

Oil India Ltd. said Oct. 11 that it made two discoveries in the Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts in the Upper Assam basin in India during the second quarter of its fiscal 2018-19.

The results of the first well, West Lohali-1, showed a flow rate of 115,000 standard cubic meters of gas per day at a depth of 2,357 meters.

The tests at the second well, Dhakuwal-1, revealed a flow rate of 100,000 standard cubic meters of gas per day along with 22 cubic meters of condensate per day at a depth of 3,875 meters.

The company said the discoveries may open further exploration in Assam and would help enhance gas production through future appraisal and development activities.
