India's Reliance Jio launches broadband service

Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. launched its all-fiber broadband service, JioFiber, across 1,600 cities in India.

JioFiber speeds will start from 100 Mbps and go all the way up to 1 Gbps. The basic plan will cost 699 Indian rupees a month, while the top plan will cost 8,499 rupees a month.

JioFiber also offers free local voice calling and international calling, TV video calling, entertainment over-the-top apps, gaming, home networking, device security, virtual reality experience and premium content platform.

Reliance Jio is a mobile operator owned by Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries Ltd.

As of Sept. 5, US$1 was equivalent to 71.84 Indian rupees.
