Suramericana's Colombian insurer gets regulator's approval to absorb RSA Seguros Colombia

expects to completethe merger of Colombian insurers SegurosGenerales Suramericana SA and Royal& Sun Alliance Seguros (Colombia) SA on Aug. 1 after Colombia'sfinancial regulator did not object to the deal, Suramericana said July 14.

SegurosGenerales Suramericana will absorb RSA Seguros Colombia, which will be dissolvedas a result, the company said.

the sale of its Colombiaoperations to Suramericana, which is a unit of Grupo de Inversiones Suramericana SA, in April.

The saleis part of a broader agreement RSA signed in September 2015 to sell its Latin Americaoperations, including Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Mexico and Uruguay, to Suramericana.

Suramericanacurrently has about 17 million customers in nine Latin American countries, includingColombia.
