Report: Danske Bank offers about 40% of employees voluntary redundancy

Danske BankA/S said Oct. 11 that it has offered voluntary redundancy to about40% of its employees, Reuters reported the same day.

The move comes as part of the Danish lender's effort to cut costsamid historically low interest rates, the report added.

The 8,000 employees, mainly in the personal and businessbanking segments in Denmark, have until Oct. 31 to consider the offer,according to Danske Bank spokesman Kenni Leth.

Leth said the offer was primarily targeted at employeesnearing retirement age or already considering other opportunities.The news was originally reported by Finans.dk.
