Cameron LNG contractor reaffirms startup date of 3rd train

Construction contractor McDermott International Inc. reaffirmed the scheduled startup of the third train at the Sempra Energy-led Cameron LNG LLC facility in Louisiana is set for the second quarter of 2020.

McDermott previously unveiled the schedule for train 3 at Cameron LNG on April 29, according to a May 22 news release.

The approximately $10 billion first phase of the Cameron LNG project — jointly owned by affiliates of Sempra LNG LLC, Total SA, Mitsui & Co. Ltd. and a company jointly owned by Mitsubishi Corp. and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha — includes three liquefaction trains with an estimated total export capacity of 12 million tonnes per annum of LNG.

Cameron LNG began liquefaction operations from the first train earlier in May. The second train is expected to start up in the first quarter of 2020.
