Ashwin Raj, head of Amazon.com Inc.'s Amazon Payments and Amazon Webstore in North America, is leaving the company to join the ride-sharing service Lyft as vice president of payments.

In an email, Raj pointed out that while it is difficult to leave "the most disruptive company in the world," the chance to disrupt the transportation space is "very compelling." He will assume the new role at the end of April.
