Workers go on 3-day strike at Areva's Cominak uranium mine

A three-day strike started May 2 at Areva SA's Cominakuranium mine in Niger, with workers claiming that they did not receive the fullpayment of bonuses for reaching financial targets in 2015, Reuters reported thesame day, citing the SYNAMIN and SYNTRAMIN unions.

Only nine out of Cominak's 800 employees did not attend the strike, the news agency cited Miou Amadou, head of the Cominak section of the SYNAMIN union,as saying.

The company only paid 70% of employees' annual bonuses. Workerswill evaluate the company's response after three days, after which they can decideon whether to extend the strike, Amadou said.
