has startedconstruction on the 31-MW MarineCorps Logistics Base Albany solar project in Dougherty County, Ga.
The $75million project will extend across 150acres of land, and is expected to come online within a year,according to an April 28 news release.
The projectmarks the secondsolar venture of the Southern Co.subsidiary with the U.S. Navy following the 30-MW SUBASE Kings Bay project. MCLB Albany is thefifth large-scalesolar project to be built and operated by Georgia Power on a military base.
The utilityhas three projects with the U.S. Army under construction, including theFort Benning,the Fort Gordonand the Fort Stewartfacilities, each with 30 MW of planned solar capacity.
