Capital Dynamics plugs in 1st phase of 280-MW Calif. solar farm

Capital Dynamics AG brought online the first phase of its 280-MWac California Flats solar project in Monterey County, Calif., according to a Dec. 19 release.

The 130-MWac California Flats Solar facility will sell power to Apple Inc. under a 25-year power purchase agreement. The second phase is expected go online by the end of 2018 and will generate 150 MWac of electricity for PG&E Corp. subsidiary Pacific Gas and Electric Co.

Capital Dynamics acquired California Flats from First Solar Inc. in August. The Netherlands' APG Asset Management and California State Teachers' Retirement System are equity investors in the project.

The first phase of commercial operations was completed by Capital Dynamics' Clean Energy Infrastructure team.
