Amazon.comInc. said July 25 that it struck a partnership with the government to explore the possibility ofdelivering parcels using drones.
A cross-government team allowed the e-commerce giant to testbeyond line of sight operations in rural and suburban areas, sensor performancefor drones, and multiple drone flights operated by a single person.
The initiative is expected to help Amazon and the governmentin evaluating the safety and reliability of using drones for logisticspurposes, as well as determine the operating rules and safety regulations forthe drone industry. The U.K. Civil Aviation Authority will be fully involved inthe program.
Amazon earlier revealed a prototype of an unmanned package deliverydrone.
