Airbus secures order for 50 A320neo planes from AerCap

Airbus Group SE secured additional firm orders of 50 A320neo Family aircraft from AerCap Holdings NV, giving the buyer a total 270 orders for the aircraft, owned and on order.

The deal is estimated to be worth $5.4 billion at list prices, according to Reuters.

"This transaction is in line with our portfolio strategy of investing in the most in-demand modern technology aircraft in the world," said Aengus Kelly, CEO of AerCap.

A report by Reuters on Dec. 27 cited three sources saying Airbus may phase out the A380 superjumbo jet if it loses a key order from Dubai's Emirates
