South Korean retailer E-MART Inc. has reached an agreement with Cambodian conglomerate Royal Group to open the former's first store in the Southeast Asian country by the first quarter of 2019, Khmer Times reported July 31.
Citing Cambodia's Commerce Minister Pan Sorasak, the newspaper said the store will be built over an area of three hectares in Khan Sen Sok, close to the Commerce Ministry on Russia Boulevard.
The ground-breaking ceremony is set to be held in the first quarter of 2019, Sorasak added.
The report said that the E-MART store will not be a franchise but a joint venture between the two companies, according to Royal Group's senior vice president for international business, Rami Sharaf.
E-MART also has a presence in China, Mongolia and Vietnam.
