HBO closing channels in Netherlands

HBO will shut down its channels in the on Dec. 31, Digital TV Europe reported Sept.30.

The channels that will go down include HBO1, HBO2 and HBO3.Further, the on-demand services HBO GO and HBO On Demand will also close downat the same time, according to the report.

HBO Netherlands was run as a joint venture of HBO Europe andLiberty Globalplc-owned Ziggo. The two companies will reportedly announce adifferent service for the Dutch market, according to an HBO spokesperson.

The move comes a few months after HBO three of its linear channels —HBO, HBO2 and HBO Comedy — in central and eastern Europe.

HBO is owned by Time Warner Inc.
