Via Holdings fiscal Q1 profit climbs YOY

Via Holdings Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended June 30 came to ¥4.50 per share, an increase from ¥4.37 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥110.6 million, a gain from ¥106.3 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 1.7% from 1.7% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue increased year over year to ¥6.36 billion from ¥6.25 billion, and total operating expenses grew from the prior-year period to ¥6.12 billion from ¥6.04 billion.

Reported net income fell 94.8% on an annual basis to ¥26.1 million, or ¥1.06 per share, from ¥497.0 million, or ¥20.43 per share.

As of Aug. 14, US$1 was equivalent to ¥102.44.
