UK

* Assura Plc designated Ed Smith to the role of nonexecutive director Oct. 10. Smith is the pro-chancellor and chairman of council at the University of Birmingham, in addition to being the lead nonexecutive director for the U.K.'s Department for Transport for a term that will run until end-2017.

* Robert Sinclair vacated his seat as director on Sirius Real Estate Ltd.'s board, with his retirement at the company's Sept. 22 annual general meeting preceding his planned departure from Picton Property Income Ltd.'s board as an independent nonexecutive director in 2018.

* Shaftesbury PLC will appoint former Emaar Malls PJSC nonexecutive director Richard Akers to its board in a role of the same capacity Nov. 28. Akers' service at Emaar spanned from October 2014 to April 2017, before which he was an executive director at Landsec.

Brazil

* Pedro Henrique Nogueira Damasceno, chairman of the board at BR Malls Participações SA, died Oct. 7. He was also a member of the people and compensation committee.
