Microsoft Corp. struck a 15-year deal to buy wind energy from GE's new, 37-MW Tullahennel wind farm in County Kerry, Ireland.
The deal, the financial terms of which were not disclosed, will allow Microsoft to support Microsoft Cloud services from Ireland, the company said Oct. 9. Microsoft is also acquiring an Irish energy supply license from GE.
As part of the deal, Dublin-based energy trading company ElectroRoute will provide energy trading services to Microsoft.
ElectroRoute is majority owned by Mitsubishi Corp.
