Transmission Capital Partners selected to operate offshore wind cable

The Transmission Capital Partners consortium has been selected as the preferred bidder for the long-term license and operation of the transmission cable connection to the Rampion offshore wind farm in the U.K.

International Public Partnerships Ltd., which is part of consortium alongside Amber Infrastructure Limited and Transmission Investment, expects to invest between £35 million and £45 million in the project, according to an Aug. 30 news release. The consortium is looking to reach financial close in the first half of 2020.

The contract is a pre-agreed, availability-based revenue stream over 20 years, which is fully linked to U.K. inflation.

The Rampion wind farm is 13 kilometers off the Sussex coast. It is owned by E.ON SE at 50.1%, Green Investment Group Ltd. at 25% and Enbridge Inc. at 24.9%.
