Tajikistan-based Imon International gets new shareholder

Alternative Fund, which is part of Luxembourg-registered Mikro Kapital Sarl, became a new shareholder of CJSC Microcredit deposit organization IMON INTERNATIONAL, the Tajik company said Dec. 6, without disclosing the size of the holding acquired by the investor.

The purchase of Imon International shares is the first investment of Alternative Fund in Tajikistan's financial sector, the company noted, adding that the new shareholder will stimulate its further development, while helping it expand the range of financial services, explore new business models and improve the quality of customer service.

Mikro Kapital is an asset management company lending to small and medium-sized businesses, with Alternative Fund focusing on investments in developing countries in East Asia, Eastern and Central Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the CIS countries. Other foreign shareholders of Imon International include the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development, Nederlandse Financierings-Maatschappij voor Ontwikkelingslanden NV and investment manager Triple Jump.
