Sky Media managing director to depart; Telekom Slovenije names new CEO

TOP MOVES

* Thomas Deissenberger, the managing director of Sky Deutschland GmbH's advertising sales arm Sky Media GmbH, is leaving the company, SportBusiness reported Aug. 27. Jacques Raynaud will become the sole managing director of Sky Media while also serving as Sky Deutschland's executive vice president of sports and advertising sales. Sky Deutschland is a unit of Comcast Corp.'s Sky Ltd.

* Telekom Slovenije dd named Matjaž Merkan as its new CEO for a four-year term, beginning Sept. 16, The Slovenia Times reported Aug. 27. Merkan, who will replace Rudolf Skobe at the Slovenian operator's helm, previously led U.S.-owned company Weiler Abrasives.

MEDIA INDUSTRY MOVES

* Video solutions provider Synamedia appointed Scott Kewley vice president of advanced advertising and data products, according to an Aug. 27 news release. Kewley joins Synamedia from British over-the-top aggregator TVPlayer, where he was managing director.

* Julian Ashworth stepped down as director of strategy and direct-to-consumer at British broadcaster ITV PLC, London's The Sunday Telegraph reported Aug. 24, citing sources. Ashworth reportedly will not be replaced on ITV's board. ITV is also seeking a replacement for its Chief Data Officer Karine Serfaty, who has left the company.

COMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY MOVES

* Russian search engine Yandex NV named Andrey Kholodny as its new head of production, Telecompaper reported Aug. 23, citing Comnews.ru. Kholodny joins Yandex from satellite television operator Tricolor TV, where he was deputy CEO for the development of noncore services.

* Fadi Pharaon is stepping down as Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)'s vice president of networks and managed services for Europe and Latin America, according to an Aug. 22 statement. Pharaon is moving to a new role as senior vice president and head of the Middle East and Africa market area, effective Sept. 1. Pharaon will replace Rafiah Ibrahim, who will become an adviser to company CEO Börje Ekholm.
