subsidiariesElba Liquefaction Co. LLCand Southern LNG Co. LLChave awarded a contract to IHICorp.'s IHI E&C for the engineering, procurement, construction,commissioning and startup of the planned Elba Island LNG export project.
Ten movablemodular liquefaction systems will be connected to the regasification terminalat Elba Island in Georgia, which will be modified to accommodate LNG from thenew trains by adding compression for vapor handling and new pumps for loadingthe LNG on vessels for export, according to an April 5 news release.
IHI E&Cwill also use Royal Dutch Shellplc proprietary technology in producing the new trains. Shell has a20-year contract for100% of the project's liquefaction capacity and ship-loading services.
Thedevelopment work is expected to result in a total processing and liquefactioncapacity of about 2.5 million tonnes per annum of LNG, according to therelease.
IHI E&C'sHouston office is undertaking initial engineering, procurement and constructionplanning as the project awaits approval from FERC.
