TNG inks deal for alternative power options for Mount Peake vanadium project

TNG Ltd. struck a deal with Carnegie Clean Energy's Energy Made Clean Ltd. unit to assess alternative power options for its preproduction-stage Mount Peake vanadium-titanium-iron ore project in Australia's Northern Territory.

The subsidiary will undertake a study to assess the viability of deploying vanadium redox battery storage technology and renewable energy options for the Mount Peake mine and Darwin refinery sites, which may result in funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency.

TNG said Dec. 21 that Energy Made Clean's initial assessment had identified various viable renewable energy options, each able to meet the needs of each site.

The agreement follows a memorandum of understanding between TNG and Energy Made Clean to evaluate and implement energy supply options for Mount Peake, which included the potential for a solar power system.
