Japan tertiary industry activity down in August from July

Japan's seasonally adjusted tertiary industry activity index slipped 0.2% to 104.7 month over month in August after rising 0.1% in July, data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed Oct. 12.

Year over year, the original index edged up 0.6% to 104.1.

Finance and insurance recorded the biggest monthly drop, down 2.3% in August, while wholesale trade and real estate gained 1.2% each from July.
