Amazon.com Inc. said Dec. 21 that it plans to set up its first fulfillment center in Mississippi.
The planned 554,000-square-foot facility will be in Marshall County. It is expected to create 850 full-time jobs with a minimum wage of $15 per hour that was recently instituted by the Seattle-based e-commerce giant.
The fulfillment center will handle picking, packing and shipping of products such as lawn and garden items, toiletries and other household consumer goods. Amazon did not give a timeline for the development and launch of the facility.
